How the process works

1. Send the sketch

Upload the drawing, photo or concept and include any known dimensions, units, materials and intended use.

2. Identify what is missing

We separate dimensions that are essential from details that can be inferred or decided later. The free review tells you exactly what needs clarification.

3. Build controlled CAD

The model is created using practical parametric features so later changes can be made without rebuilding the entire part from scratch.

4. Export for the next step

Files are prepared around your use case: SolidWorks for editing, STEP for manufacturing, STL for printing, DXF for flat cutting or PDF for shop documentation.

Sketch to CAD FAQ

Does the sketch have to be to scale?

No. Clear dimensions and relationships matter more than whether the sketch is drawn to scale.

What if I only know one or two dimensions?

Send them anyway. A known reference dimension, photos and the intended fit can often establish what additional measurements are needed. We will not silently guess critical geometry.

Can I use the finished file for CNC machining?

Yes, if the agreed deliverable includes geometry suitable for machining. STEP is commonly used for quoting and CAM, while a dimensioned drawing may still be needed for tolerances, finishes and critical features.

Can you make changes after the first model?

Yes. Parametric CAD is useful precisely because dimensions and features can be revised as the design develops.
